Randy Caldwell, Councillor

Randy grew up in Fort Stewart where his parents owned the General Store. He attended Fort Stewart Public School from grade one through grade eight. He then attended North Hastings High School in Bancroft, and then on to Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough where he studied business.
In 1972, Randy was hired by Canadian National Railways as a brakeman. He later became a conductor, and in 1975 was sent to CN’s training centre in Gimli Manitoba where he qualified as a locomotive engineer. Most of his career was spent operating freight and passenger trains on CN’s mainline between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. During that time, he was elected by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers to represent approximately seventy-five locomotive engineers in the terminal of Belleville, Ontario. From there, he was elected as Senior Vice-General Chairman for the Central Canadian Region representing approximately six hundred engineers. In June of 2010, he was elected to his third three-year term in that position. Randy is also certified by the Province of Ontario as a Hunter Education Instructor.
Randy and his wife Bonnie were married in 1973, and have two daughters, Amanda, and Meredith. They also have two grand-daughters, Cheyenne and Hannah Scero.
