Description:RECYCLING INFORMATION & MUNICIPAL HAZARDOUS OR SPECIAL WASTE COLLECTION INFORMATION Everyone is reminded to help extend the life of our landfill sites by participating in the Municipality’s recycling program. The best way to preserve the life of our landfill and reduce future costs is to recycle. Whenever possible household waste should be delivered to the waste disposal site in bags. Only ratepayers of the municipality are permitted entry to the Carlow and Mayo Ward Waste Disposal Sites ITEMS WHICH ARE ACCEPTED AT OUR WASTE SITES FOR RECYCLING Metal Cans & Foil, Empty Aerosol & Paint Cans, Rigid & Foam Plastic Containers, Clear & Coloured Glass- Bottles & Jars, Mixed Household Paper, Cardboard, Clean Plastic Bags, Newspaper & Magazines. Used clothing and furniture may be disposed of at local Heritage Shops. Check with these local charity shops to make arrangements for disposal of items. Items may also be taken to the ReUse-GreenTEC facility located at: 95A Detlor Road any Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (no clothing accepted). Note: Items must be clean, working and of reusable value. All electrical items must have their own cords for power up test before they will be accepted and weighed. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE UPDATE The Township of Carlow/Mayo has arranged for the processing and disposal of: HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE All residents of Carlow/Mayo are requested to co-operate with this program by dropping off all Household Hazardous Waste to: Bancroft Public Works Yard 125 Monck Street Bancroft, Ontario (Take Hwy 28 South to Monck Street – across from the old Bancroft Motors location) This site will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the following dates: May 15th, 2010 June 19th, 2010 July 10th, 2010 August 14th, 2010 September 25th, 2010 Accepted: Paints/coatings, solvents, antifreeze, cleaners, oil filters, propane tanks, batteries, fluorescent lighting, pesticides/herbicides, acids/bases, waste oil/fuels Not Accepted: Commercial, industrial & agricultural wastes, syringes Bio-Hazard Waste i.e.: syringes, lancets can be disposed of by your local pharmacy. Please contact them for more information. PLEASE NOTE THAT HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE MUST BE TAKEN TO THE ABOVE SITE ON THE DATES INDICATED. IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT OUR LANDFILL SITES.
